My relationship theory is that two worriers can be together only if they are worriers about completely different things. If you both fixate on the same things, the worry will spiral out of control. You need the other person to always be there to cool down the degree of the worry, not fan the flames.

A ship doesn't have to be canon to be good or worth exploring. It's really strange this recent trend of canon or bust. If a dynamic grips you, you find it interesting, or it makes you pause, and you can tweak it to make it work for you and your art, go nuts. That's the joy of transformative fandom!
