And that's not even getting into the chance that Hasbro told the artists "yeah we want more Pinkie Pie and Twilight episodes" I know I've heard stories from them in interviews, social media posts, and conventions about "yeah you need to write in XYZ element because we have a new toy next quarter."

People speculate over the years that she's about in the same place at the start and end of the show. She was pretty happy and satisfied where she was (and good for her!). Could they have tried? Perhaps. But it seems it was easier for the writers to focus on Rarity's shop or RD's Wonderbolt dreams

They are using this language to justify the violence, same with the gear they use. Compare to the navy blue windbreakers with yellow lettering they had for the decades before this, and the military tactical gear they have now.
