They said before the term started, pick what you pay attention to. There will be so much bad stuff so don't get distracted, they said. Focus on the important things.
But what if the things I picked are: Democracy, a functioning government, profound threats to the constitutional order??

I'm trying to process today's events and the sense of dread I have for the next 4 years.
First, the Democrats couldn't figure out how to beat this guy. That's a huge indictment on them, but maybe it also tells us about the enduring sway that grievance and race have, and will always have.

Of all the things that bother me about the incoming administration (and there are a lot), the one that really annoys me is the stupid doge office. What a waste of everyone's time, money, attention, and especially, my energy being annoyed at it.
