Wanted to go a little more in depth on the subject after seeing @mmatt.net's post.
I've been using @convex.dev for the @beaconbits.app appview and can't recommend it enough.
To sync atproto data, I run a Tap instance in Warp Pipe that sends records to separate convex dev and prod DBs.

Today we pushed some optimizations and new updates that allow you to create and manage custom venues on the map.
This works differently from "Use current location" for dropping beacons, and instead makes an atproto record for the venue on your PDS.

Starting today, you can create a beacon just by adding a photo.
Open the quick menu and select "Use photo location" to upload from your camera roll or snap a pic. 📸
You can also now preview and edit text before crossposting a beacon.

Today we're introducing some privacy focused features for dropping beacons.
📸 Use Photo Location: You can now use a photo's metadata to drop a beacon at that location.
⏰ Delayed reveal: You can also add an optional delay before your beacon becomes visible (1h, 1d, 1w, or custom)

Deployed Warp Pipe for Beacon Bits last night and I'm hyped to put this thing to the test.
It uses oauth, lets you build tap containers from your existing app data and has a system diagnostics page to keep an eye on everything.
App configs can also be stored as records for quick instances.

Using a Bluesky list for beta access has made it so easy to manage during this initial phase.
When someone comments for beta access, I can just click the dot menu on their comment and add to this list. 🪄
