CHANGEMENTS CLIMATIQUES, COÉVOLUTIONS, ET RUPTURE DE L’ÉLEVAGE INDUSTRIEL : L’URGENCE DES BASCULES AGROÉCOLOGIQUES Anne Blondeau Da Silva À la fin du XIXe siècle, le terme de Néolithique a été forgé par le préhistorien anglais Lubbock (1887) par référence à une invention technique repérée dans les artefacts de pierres taillées au cours de la Préhistoire, puis a servi à développer une vision évolutionniste de l’histoire humaine tirée par les techniques, la « révolution néolithique » étant le nom donné par Childe (1936) à une « transition » supposée entre une économie de prédation, chasse et cueillette, et une économie de production. Ce récit longtemps dominant est aujourd’hui mis à mal, non seulement pour son caractère idéologique contestable mais aussi en raison des découvertes archéologiques qui montrent le caractère buissonnant et non téléologique de l’histoire humaine. Il n’en demeure pas moins vrai que se sont développés au cours de cette période des liens privilégiés entre des populations humaines et certaines espèces de plantes et d’animaux, depuis différents berceaux. Le terme de «domestication » est utilisé pour désigner ces associations singulières, mais sa définition reste source de vifs débats, alimentés par une littérature abondante. En effet la complexité des processus en jeu, leurs fondements philosophiques ou implications sociales sont propres aux multiples histoires domesticatoires, rendant toute généralisation délicate (Orlando et al., 2021). Savoir si la domestication est intentionnelle ou non, si elle est alliance ou domination, ou encore si elle constitue « la pire erreur dans l’histoire de l’humanité » (Diamond, 1987) n’est pas ici notre objectif.
