How long will you live in the crosshairs Of someone else's permission, how many daughters / Will you consign to the flame of your convenience? 600 days in the genocide The hour is late as l usher my sons to bed. My family is watching a game called State Of Origin where men from all over the world Claim tribal heritage to land not their own. I can't stop thinking of Ward, who survived And of Shaaban al-Dalou, who did not. My babies, strangers to hardship, whimper In the dark as if they, too, can feel the heat Licking at their hands and feet. When we Dream, scientists say we enter paralysis: A safety mechanism to keep us from rolling Into the campfire, or off a cliff. Barry Soper was in the Gallery for the homosexual law reform debates and for the addition of sexual orientation to the human rights act, where some of the most vile and dehumanising things you'll ever hear were said about gay people.

Interesting to see what he thinks counts as really bad hatred.
Veteran Newstalk ZB broadcaster Barry Soper says he's "never seen hatred like that in Parliament before" during repeated disruptions to the first reading of the Treaty Principles Bill in the House today. The highly contentious bill passed its first reading today despite a brief suspension of Parliament. Soper said he'd never seen a spectale like it before in his career.
