Pretty amazing to think about all the records of varying quality and stature that get anniversary pieces each week and also that only one person/publication, as far as I can tell, wrote about Pinegrove's Cardinal yesterday. Good work, @chrisdeville.bsky.social!

One of the great songwriters of our time, Damien Jurado, is playing "the hits" on his upcoming tour, which starts tomorrow in Oregon and ends in the Midwest.

For my local newspaper, I talked to him about what that means and why he's doing it after 25+ years of playing whatever he felt like playing.
At VTP in Bend, Damien Jurado will do what he wants — play the hits - The Bulletin
It’s right there, plain as day, on the event page for Damien Jurado’s upcoming show at Bend’s Volcanic Theatre Pub: “Damien Jurado Plays His Greatest Hits” If you’re unfamiliar with […]

an absolute pillar of my local punk scene for the past 20+ years passed away last fall at the far-too-young age of 44, and they're throwing a show in his honor, all the best heavy/punk bands in town are playing, proceeds benefit a local homeless shelter and it's all so sweet. 🥹 RIP Preston

two thoughts on this very unsettling Super Bowl commercial:

1. it feels like the first half of an SNL skit.

2. they think we're stupid and that they can just roll out a widespread video surveillance system right under our noses and we won't do anything about it. (they might be right.)

Wow … was just thinking of this band and this record the other day, wondering what they were up to (if anything). Good piece on a hypno-rhythmic classic. ⬇️
on occasion of their quiet return to live performance, I interviewed Dawn of Midi about making Dysnomia, one of my favorite records of all time, and how it feels to come back to such a monumental work now that it's no longer at the center of their lives
