Any authors out there with helpful wisdom on beating the Resistance that comes halfway through every draft that whispers "this is garbage"?

The answer can't always be "keep going", sometimes it might be garbage! But I'm all ears.

Saying "I deserve the Nobel Peace Prize" should pretty much be a disqualification in and of itself for winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

I swear half of writing is looking at a draft of what was once an irresitible idea -- and asking... "is this anything?"

Identity is such a fickle part of being an author.

At first, it can take forever to identify as an author — not just a writer or wannabe. But that’s just part of the journey.

Really enjoyed my day yesterday at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The entire event was organized by students, and they did an amazing job. Plus I got to speak to a great room full of enthusiastic young people who reminded me that hope is never misguided.

Southern noir at its finest. Come for the characters, stay for the gripping story. Perfect for fans of David Joy & Wiley Cash, but great for anyone, honestly. Highly recommend!
