Interesting data but also I wonder what application does it actually serve in practice? Even despite FFXV's position there (where it's above FFIV, FFVI and would be above III and XVI), and it being THE bros on the road FF, it in actuality has the highest female playerbase out of any Final Fantasy

jrpg isn't a real genre. its a useful shorthand and comparative term (i.e. if you like tales games you'll probably like falcom games) but when more academically discussing things like whether the genre has "evolved" enough or not it becomes tautologically useless

Anyway I'd argue that Yoshi-P's reign has decimated the FF audience more than FF7R has, but FF7R hogging up resources and butchering FF7 hasn't helped.
