The UK is staring down the exact same barrel right now. How many times do nations have to see the same goddamn pattern play out until they wise up to stop it BEFORE it happens?

It was a complicated layer cake of reasons, it's not like every American is a well educated critical thinker with access to firmly grounded, factual news.

Educational divestment, politically aligned churches and the collapse of ethical media all contributed.

Thats how he got in.

Dear Non-US People angry at America for voting in DJT:

It's not that simple.

He got elected on vibes by ppl w/ 3rd grade reading comprehension, informed by a billionaire's propaganda machine, while comfy, sanctimonious liberals assumed nothing bad could happen to them and didn't bother to show up

The news is overwhelming.
This is not the time to turn away.

Consume the news in smaller bits, don't deep dive as much, find simple roll ups but

Don't.
Turn.
Away.

Evil thrives in the spaces where nobody is looking.

Things you won't see in the media because it's all owned by his buddies. Control of the media doesn't always happen by means of hostile government seizure.

You like Democracy? You have to ACTIVELY DEFEND it. Every democracy that relies naively on the starry eyed idealism of human goodness will inevitably fall. 2/2

What makes me crazy about this is that this solution was ALWAYS there.

While conservatives unethically r@ped & pillaged the voting maps, the Dems wrung their hands in consternation and worried about looking too unfair. 1/2
Fighting Republican attacks on democracy can feel like an uphill battle, but one way to make a difference is by campaigning for Democratic governors who have the power to veto unfair congressional maps, Meghan Meehan-Draper writes.

Mitch McConnell had the same bruising and that old rat fucker is still alive.

Projecting wishes instead of reporting news is a slippery slope, guys.

Pandemic has two different categories for successfully controlled disease: cured and eradicated. Cured means it can't spread anymore but it's not gone. Eradicated means all cubes of that color are gone from the board and the cure has been found so it can't reoccur.

Kinda like IRL, weird.

The speed at which American media is collapsing into a simpering pool of submissive urine is really fucking impressive.

I look at it differently. Society wants us to learn in order to do the thing, when for some of us it's the learning part that interests us.

The learning *is* the thing. Once it's learnt, then time to move on and learn something else.

So... Republicans gutted the National Weather Service so warnings didn't go out on time, AND gutted FEMA so there's no relief money.

And now all this hand wringing. 🤦‍♀️

It's not even chickening out, it's market manipulation, pure and simple, cloaked in bluster and bombast for an ignorant base.

JFC the media is failing us.

Why precision matters.

“Fake news” became a global insult.

But it was never a clear category.

This thread explains why vague, viral language is dangerous—and how we fight it.
