1953 - The St. Louis Browns relocation to Baltimore is made official, returning Baltimore to the ranks of MLB cities for the first time since 1902.

That the Browns were relocating had been an open secret since the start of the '53 season.

DIED ON THIS DATE - November 17

Ron Bryant (2023) had a good '72 season, then won 24 for the '73 Giants before crashing & burning (3-15 5.61) in '74. Maybe it should have been obvious he was used up in September '73 when in his last 6 starts he lasted only 29.2 innings & gave up 27 earned runs.

Dick Burns was the first MLBer born (1863) who died on November 16 (1937). He went 2-12 for the 1883 Detroit Wolverines of the NL. Pitched a no-hitter in the Union Association in 1884 but if that was really a major league then I'm Juan Soto.
