(Oct 24–26) Attended our very first AACS conference, where we organized a panel titled “Transnational Imaginaries of Superiority and (Dis)Empowerment.”

Our brilliant chair and discussant, Jiwon Yun (Yale University), offered such insightful comments and helped spark amazing cross-study discussions.

Like many friends, peers, and colleagues, the inspiration from sociologists like Michael Burawoy is the reason I am where I am now.

The International Sociological Association (ISA) deeply mourns the tragic passing of Michael Burawoy, a leading sociologist, Professor of Sociology at UC Berkeley, and the 17th President of ISA. Michael was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on February 3rd. His loss is immeasurable.
