🚀🐵The first primate in space blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida #OTD in 1961.
Ham, a chimpanzee, was sent before NASA risked a human astronaut.
The primate on this coin is a Barbary macaque, the only monkey with a population in Europe. #SaturdayArtifact

It’s a low value cheque or micro bank draft called an “Assegno.”
It was issued in late ’70s Italy to be used as small change during a severe coin shortage.
