It could be the notes’ associations with gambling or bribing, who knows? 🤷‍♂️

No, this isn’t a groundhog, but a Tatra marmot.
All groundhogs are marmots, but not all marmots are groundhogs—and nobody puts them on currency.
It’s the best we can do under such difficult circumstances.

🚀🐵The first primate in space blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida #OTD in 1961.
Ham, a chimpanzee, was sent before NASA risked a human astronaut.
The primate on this coin is a Barbary macaque, the only monkey with a population in Europe. #SaturdayArtifact

So, what is it? 🤔
It’s a low value cheque or micro bank draft called an “Assegno.”
It was issued in late ’70s Italy to be used as small change during a severe coin shortage.
This 100-lira note was then worth around 13 cents. #FridayFunFact
