When I knocked doors in Capehart, I think there was a bit of a surprise by folks to have a Council candidate at their door. All of Bangor should feel represented by its City Council, and if that's not the case... well... there's work to be done.

The City of Bangor will be applying for a Cole Foundation Grant to launch a Community Paramedicine Program in Bangor. Our City is always looking for ways to improve and meet needs. This is the latest example, and some great news.

What are the issues that face your community? It's a safe bet that housing probably makes the list. Every community needs more housing as populations grow and needs change. Maine certainly needs more housing. But how much?

bangormike.com/2025/06/06/m...
Maine Housing Production Goals as of September 2024
Maine needs to produce 84,300 units by the year 2030. Penobscot County is expected to contribute 5,700 of those units. Bangor needs 1200 units of housing now.

Maine LD 209, Part S, would limit housing assistance to 3 months per 12-month period. When housing aid ends too soon, people often become homeless, and the costs skyrocket—emergency shelters, police responses, and healthcare are far more expensive than keeping someone housed. (1/2)

The Maine State Legislature will decide whether the Seppala Siberian Sleddog will be Maine's official dog breed.

Only 13 states have named an official state dog. (Per Wikipedia) Maine last attempted to name a state dog in 2015: the Labrador Retriever.

What do you think of this choice?

Should these bills pass in the Maine State Legislature, Maine will be the 29th state to have an official amphibian and reptile. (Per Wikipedia)
