Y'all get real twitchy when someone reminds you that astigmatism is actually a disability. You're visually impaired, my friends. Welcome to the disabled side.

They sent a wheelchair user to space. What good does that do the rest of us?

In December, aerospace engineer Michaela Benthaus became the first wheelchair user to go to space. The big question is, what does this mean for disabled people on the ground? (Hint: Not much.)

"The future is accessible." I think this has two meanings: One, in the future, the world will be more accessible to the disabled population. But, two, the future is open to everyone. We ALL have a place in the future and WE get to decide what it looks like.

It came to my attention that some people think it should be a criminal offense for people to *potentially* pass on a disability/condition. Every day is some fresh new hell.

I'll be honest. I wish I could find a guy to look at me like I'm this chicken sandwich.

Bad Attitudes is back! For the first episode of 2026, we're looking back on how the current administration f*cked over the disabled community in 2025. A feel-good episode? No, but an important accounting.

Disability is not a tragedy. The real tragedy is that some people find it perfectly acceptable to treat disabled people as less valuable, less inherently worthy, or just simply LESS THAN because of an arbitrary quirk of their physiology. People suck.

Welp, I guess the break is over! New episodes return Monday, January 12! I made a few minor changes, and I look forward to hearing what y'all think about them.

This explains a LOT.

If this body ain't an advertisement for always reading your terms and conditions, I don't know what is.

Merry everything! May your day be filled with joy and peace. If you are hurting, I sincerely wish for brighter days ahead. Thank you for all your support for this little passion project of mine. Here's to a much-improved 2026!

Regardless of what classes you took or what degree you hold, unless you have the lived experience of being disabled or chronically ill, YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT. Nothing you can say, think, or believe outweighs the thoughts, wants, and lived experience of an ACTUAL disabled person.

This is my favorite Twitter exchange ever. I will always share it.

Disabled people are not broken. The system is broken. Disabled people are not the problem. Ableism is the problem. The foundations of our country are built not just on systemic racism and misogyny but also on systemic ableism. We are equally oppressed under the law.

Against all odds, we've made it to the end of the year. The longest year of all time, but we made it. I didn't have a particuarly topic to talk about, so we wrap the year with this pointless episode. Available on your favorite podcast platform or visit badattitudespod.com. #disability

People with disabilities or chronic illness carry a LOT. We often hide how much we carry to keep from bringing people down. (There's no bigger Karen than someone who thinks disabled people shouldn't complain so much.) Some days, it all gets really heavy. Remember what we're carrying.

I asked my Threads followers about their experiences with microaggressions as disabled people. This episode is a collection of some of their responses.

For the record, the non-disabled spots are everywhere else. They're EVERYWHERE. You don't have to take ours!

(Also, every month is Straight Pride Month. Shut up.)

Why do people think my wheelchair looks like an armrest or a banister? You DO realize I'm a person, right? Right?!

Sir Anthony Hopkins is making headlines for a quote regarding labels for diagnoses like ASD, ADHD, and OCD. But, actually, those labels are quite powerful.

This is true even if you're not disabled or chronically ill. Running yourself into the ground helps no one. It is important to allow yourself to rest. Recharge. Reset. You must take care of yourself if you want to care for others, and you must take care of yourself to maintain your well-being.

Like everything, disability exists on a spectrum. Not everyone who is disabled needs a mobility aid. Not everyone who uses a mobility aid needs it all the time. Not everyone who looks healthy is healthy. Whatever you think disability looks like, it looks like so much more.
