Having read the paper I have questions about the quality of those equivalent width measurements that go as input, don’t really believe the fitting process for the reionization history, and think there is something wrong with the fitting for #cosmology from there.
Anyway, I'm going to do a deep read of arxiv.org/abs/2601.09644 because the claims are very bold yet not facially absurd. Any Ly-a emission experts welcome to chime in. 🔭

I now resent I have to know about Greg Bovino, Elbridge Colby, and who is currently heading the US NORTHCOM.
I just resent that we are in a situation that requires knowing about the Dugins of the world. This guy used to post nonsense on forums under the name "Mencius Moldbug", how the hell is he on the vice-president of the United States' speed dial.

The entire interview with David Spergel, an eminent astrophysicist who’s moved into philanthropy, is worth a read. This part about the academic job market in math really stood out to me. Hiring cuts like this are catastrophic and have domino effects (going beyond annoying articles in Compact).
