Serious question from someone struggling to follow from across the Atlantic. How many dems inc. #Schumer who have "capitulated" are doing so because of the time of year and pressure on them by people who need it? by the same token, how much criticism is from those in more comfortable positions?

The #BBC news is wild. The head of the BBC was sacked for potentially misrepresenting a right wing speech as more right wing than it was. Ironically the BBC is accused of bias which is usually toward the right anyway... so the BBC to correct to the center? I guess we'll see!

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I thought I wasn't getting paid for my #digipres work because I don't *currently* work in an archive... turns out the existential continuum of my life is probably "some sort of archive"™... and so now I'm doubly sad about that!

In 2008, Google created an ad-powered wiki encyclopedia called Knol, seen as a "Wikipedia killer" amid its highly-publicized launch. And the Wikimedia Foundation gave an unbothered response that I quite like: "the more good free content, the better for the world." Anyway Knol instantly flopped

The authors seemed to suggest AI could be used in digital preservation as part of the migration and also fixity processes, if I understood correctly. Given the tendency to hallucinate, these seems very risky. Thoughts? Corrections? #digipres #icabarcelona2025

Has anyone worked with ODF/A? Have it in your corpus? I found it interesting that one of the reasons for developing ODF/A was issues around Chinese characters in PDF (example: difficulties in copying from PDF). #digipres @wtfpdf@mastodon.social #icabarcelona2025 #wtfpdf
