Delicious morning at Wild Ken Hill - highlights were Water Rail, Black-winged Stilt (too distant to see if ringed), 7 Bearded Tits, Merlin hunting Meadow Pipits and Linnet; and 3 Snow Buntings still hanging on from the peak of 21 in December.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Marsh Tits are the most regulars since we moved the feeders round the back to avoid the local cats, but the past 24 hours have seen the first Goldfinch, Nuthatch and Long-tailed Tits.

Happy days!

First bird of 2026, heard from my bed then seen on the feeders - a Marsh Tit.

A bird you are almost guaranteed to see in the garden here at any time of day - and one of my favourites.
