thinking about a decentralised, scoped appview architecture

single users and community hosts could run smaller, scoped appviews that only collect records of the instance members and their social graph, all sharing a common lexicon

A little proof of concept I've been working on, it's a version of Bluesky that you can run locally, even on your laptop, that pulls just the data you care about from the firehose, indexes it, and provides you an interface to view and interact with posts.

Here’s to hoping it makes an appearance on whatever mystery compilation they might have in the works 🤞

You ‘run the gamut’ and ‘run the gauntlet.’

You don’t ‘run the gambit.’

gamut = entire range or series

gauntlet = severe trial

Gambit = Alpha-level mutant who can convert potential energy to kinetic energy

Not because of quality.

Because of graph position, trust, and incentives.

You don’t need a system.

You need to be a gentle magpie.

Pick up what sparkles.
Tuck it into your nest.
Revisit it now and then.
