My partner got me this crazy fountain pen called a hoverpen? The brand’s novium. But it comes with a stand that makes it float! It looks like a rocket ship.

I didn’t bring any ink with me so it’ll be a bit before I can ink it up and test it. I still haven’t done any research into this pen yet

My friend asked my about how long my current project is/will be and the best way I can describe that is it’s going to be 5 books. That’s the best way I can reasonably divide the project up so it’s reasonable. The rough draft of act 1 is as long as a short movie script and

the young master's troubles

Bill Hargrove, age 16, is one of the 3 teenage protagonists of the graphic novel Blue Hollow. He is mixed race, dressed in a formal sweater in slacks, but he's unkempt and off-kilter, throwing a leg over the arm of a chair with a bravado that speaks of a loss of patience. Cookie the dog stands guard at his knee. Bill is a very tired young man who is mentally unwell for a variety of reasons (ghost and/or family-related), and the illustration shows him reclined in an armchair in the library in evening, suggestively splitting the pages of a book open while looking up at you. You're not sure if what he has to say will be sarcastic or heartbreaking.

Hazel and I gave a presentation for some senior illustration students at Emily Carr today! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos but I do have this slide from our powerpoint to share with everyone.

"Our most important advice: If you have never finished a comic before, make a >30 page comic before starting a large one. I literally cannot stress this enough."
