After some busy, busy courses for school, I am finally back to some writing. Feels good!

"The whole course of human history may depend on a change of heart in one solitary and even humble individual - for it is in the solitary mind and soul of the individual that the battle between good and evil is waged and ultimately won or lost."
(M. Scott Peck).

I felt like I had lost the thread of my current ms. So, I took myself on a mini-solo-writer's-retreat. Just me, my work and a ton of books. It was successful. Thread found ✅.

"Quality school library programs are powerful boosters of student achievement that can make important contributions to improving schools in general and, in particular, closing the achievement gap among our most vulnerable learners." ~ Lance & Kachel kappanonline.org/lance-kachel...
Why school librarians matter: What years of research tell us - Kappan Online

(all of us!) "School librarians have to speak up when we see inequity, draw attention to injustice, and advocate for our learners. We cannot allow outspoken opponents and those who feign ignorance of the necessity of equity for all to stymy our work" ~ Kathy Carroll #equity #speakup #library

"enchantment cannot be destroyed. It waits patiently for us to remember that we need it. And now when I start to look for it, there it is: pale, intermittent, waiting patiently for my return. The sudden catch of sunlight behind stained glass. The glint of gold in the silt of a stream"~ Katherine May

"The last decade has filled so many of us with a growing sense of unreality. We seem trapped in a grind of constant change without ever getting the chance to integrate it. Those rolling news cycles, the chatter on social media, the way that our families have split along partisan lines"~Katherine May

Do you know what? I've decided that I refuse to get caught up in the rage, hatred, and fearmongering that feels rampant atm. If it comes to it, I will ALWAYS stand up for my rights and the rights of others. Until then... I think you are wonderful and strong! I choose to spread love and positivity.

I wrote a draft manuscript that was so completely different than anything I have ever written before. I struggled with myself to send it to my critique partners. It's hard to know if something so new has any real legs. But - it is sent. And I am proud for trying it out. #writers

Have you read #DopamineNation? Well, my personal--machine (IYKYK) is Tim Hortons tea. Yes - the disposable cup. And, for many reasons, and without judgement on others (really and truly), I have decided to part ways with it. For some that sounds small - for me it's big. But it's past time. #zerowaste

The world feels discouraging, atm. A LOT has happened the last few years. I haven't felt the same since before the pandemic. I'm STILL catching up. Before, I was working towards zero waste - that went out the window! So, I am resolving to work in that direction again, little by little. #zerowaste

I tried my hand at darning for the first time. Tried it in fun colours on one of my daughter's play shirts. It was sort of fun!

My son: Mom, can you make me "Goopy le Grande" before school on Monday?
Quick deadline? No pattern? No problem!
Is it perfect? Nope! Is my son happy? Yep!
Happy I could make him happy.
