I’ve always been a majority plotter, but for this book I’ve been trying to nail down the entire plot before drafting. I like to hand write my plotting.

No—she recalls a book she read once: murder of crows, unkindness of ravens. “Did they ditch you because you’re too kind?” One keen, black eye locks on Chloe. There’s a moment—a beat—where the silence and the stillness is so utterly complete, where she stares at the bird and the bird stares back, that it stretches almost to infinity itself. She knows, in that paused time: this is no dream, or coincidence. This matters. “Who are you?” she asks. The raven croaks, louder than expected, and the spell shatters. Time ticks forward. Chloe yelps, almost dropping the animal from surprise. Then she laughs. The bird mimics her laughter, crackling like a gramophone. Finished edits on my Poe-inspired story, sent out my first queries. There’s already been some interest, so I’m crossing my fingers AND toes for this one! 🤞🏻

I truly love this book, it’s so dear to my heart. Using a fantasy world to parallel and confront an abusive marriage healed a deep wound in me.
