This summer, I had the absolutely delightful opportunity to visit Bath and walk a little in Jane Austen's footsteps. I posted a while ago about some of the different places I visited, including Jane's father's church and the cottage at Chawton, but I also really enjoyed touring a sample Georgian home while I was in Bath. This is at 1 Royal Crescent and is not to be missed if you visit Bath yourself!

It's a new year with new beginnings, lovely readers! What goes better with new beginnings than a new writing project? We, the authors of Austen Variations, were so happy with how well our "Pride and Prejudice: The Untold Stories," and "Prelude to Pemberley" were received, we wished to continue the fun, but with a slight twist. Beginning next week, we are going back to our roots...actually, those of our dear Jane who said, "Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery." And we agree!

On December 29th in Regency England, Christmas was not over. In fact, they were right in the middle of it. Under the traditional church calendar, the Twelve Days of Christmas run from December 25 to January 5, with Christmas Day itself counted as the First Day. That makes December 29 the Fifth Day of Christmas, smack in the middle of Christmastide, when the feasting, visiting, and general merriment were still going strong.
