I've updated my inner-city bike route map.

It's based on traffic stress and can be saved on your Google Maps app.

Green = Off-road
Blue = Low traffic stress or protected lanes
Orange = Medium traffic stress
Red = High traffic stress
Black = Poor connection

🚨 NEW: One Nation has climbed to a record 18% in the latest RedBridge poll, while the Coalition has fallen to 24%

Sussan Ley is losing to "neither" as preferred prime minister, with just 10% supporting her

I've come to Castlemaine which means a barely usable data service. Telstra has a lot of coverage but not a lot of bandwidth.

PECULIAR: I was sitting outside Melbourne Town Hall admin building for about half an hour and gold coins were being flung seemingly out of nowhere onto the footpath. It happened three times while I was there. No idea who was doing it. Flower man and visitor info lady were amused.

A new 'left turn hold' at the start of the traffic signal phase to protect the busy bicycle movement towards Melbourne CBD on Rathdowne Street at Victoria Street.

A nice cold and wet Melbourne morning to you.

I wonder if Flemington Racecourse trains could run via the loop when the Metro Tunnel opens and stop halving the frequency on the Newport corridor? Of course, that may not account for the need to reprioritise drivers.

I shall place this sign upon every gate to the city.

Free energy is coming! Of course, it's not the "free energy" the crazies talk about because it's from excess solar generation and as we all know, solar is a globalist scam.
Australian households to get free electricity three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, the federal government will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

Caught the 901 bus to the airport. It's only half hourly on weekends which doesn't connect consistently with trains every 20 minutes at Broadmeadows. This is simple stuff to get right. I was impressed with some of the on-road bus priority, however.

I'll stop ranting now.

The premier will be there thinking, do I want the news media to be covering the new hospitals and the train tunnels, or would I rather them cover daily police bashings because we have a protest permit system now and Melburnians aren't particularly keen on that?
October 20, 2025 at 9:51 AM
The police have red light bias. All they see is "disorder" because that's their fucken job. The rest of us go to bookshops and buy coffees. Yes, I buy a coffee at the bookshop now and then.

Fun fakt. I'm in Melbourne CBD nearly every fucken day, including the weekend, and including yesterday when there was apparently violent protests that I didn't encounter at all! The real problems that I see are people who need services! All that actually annoys me are the motor cars!
October 20, 2025 at 9:25 AM
Why is the media so keen for a protest ban in Melbourne? I'm pretty sure it's because they know it'll lead to more street violence, not less. They think that'll be good for the newspaper business. But the joke's on them. We don't want to read about it!

"After my initial trepidation, I was surprised how quickly our car trips became bike rides."
Load and behold: should you opt for an electric cargo bike over a second car?
Cargo ebikes are ideal for the millions of short-distance car trips Australians take every day. Here’s how to make one work for you
