On The Rehearsal: Just reminding everyone that Nathan Fielder's biggest—perhaps sole—inspiration for the project is William Greaves.

If you haven't watched Symbiopsychotaxiplasm, please do.

Just a funny moment from the recent Blank Check podcast. The dudes are discussing JAWS and the other movies in the box office that week, and literally none of them had heard of TORSO.

Just a reminder of blind spots, and particular types of expertise.

The Krisha short film was very good.

This concludes my opinion of Trey Edward Shults

I HATE that he's still hilarious.

"Thank you for your attention to this matter."

I promise if you send your kid to Mercy Culture, you are absolutely increasing their chances of having a personal encounter with God.

As a parent, that "I have too much time to do whatever I want" song from TANGLED mocks me.

This is really hurting my brain.
Suffice to say, this is not how investigative agencies used to refer matters to federal prosecutors.

It's funny that a fleeting art piece satirizing our obsession with art's "timelessness" has now continued past its shelf life so people can reinforce that obsession by comparing it to a sculpture they don't actually care about, before going back to browsing TikTok while watching a fleeting TV show.

The most believable part of Home Sweet Home Alone is that Buzz became a cop.

love that sequel trope where you just invented some additional character trait no one knew about so that you can pay it off later.

Marty McFly can't take being called chicken; Kevin McAllister loves Christmas trees, I guess?

Hypothetical: Assume AOC had been exactly in Kamala's shoes this election. She had the exact same policies, same name recognition, same debate performance, etc.

How does the election go? Why?

so many non-lawyers seem obsessed with the logical thinking of rules and systems in the profession.

but so few seem equally interested in the ethical principles actual lawyers take just as seriously.

finally watched the rest of ti west's X trilogy, after seeing the first in the theater.

they are all good films, but my favorite part is seeing how he's learning to organically weave his passion for period-specific style so fluidly into narratives.

THE ROOST contains so much of his movie aims.

We've been seeing this on the State level for a decade

Texas, the "local control" state, has been preempting cities more and more as those cities do something the Texas legislature doesn't like.

The legislature has never explained why local control is no longer an important party value.
The Republicans, including but not limited to the Federalist Society, are going to drop pretenses to federalism faster than a pregnant au pair just as soon as Trump starts muscling states around.

Not that anyone other than the extremely gullible ever bought the pretense before.
I joked to my brother that as of yesterday morning, "I am the most pro-federalism states rights motherfucker that ever lived," and that's more or less my main argument here: use the authority wielded wherever Democrats have power to sandbag Trump's fascism www.liberalcurrents.com/a-practical-...
