Last week, we got a report of ICE grabbing people off a @wmata.com bus in Silver Spring, terrifying the riders. Turns out i was metro cops in plain clothes, pulling people off for fare evasion. In a time when ICE is out there kidnapping people off streets, this kind of tactic is beyond fucked. 1/

This aggressive enforcement is all part of the larger "DC area is unsafe" narrative that keeps the District over policed & refuses to address the root causes of harm. Which is the same narrative in Trump's "Make DC Safe & Beautiful" executive order that was the impetus for last week's ICE raids. 3/
