Astral Social Club, Vibracathedral Orchestra, Futurist Bags, you know the score.
Day job in a11y.
I sent Graeme a fresh and fruity Astral Social Club choon for this yesterday. Flattered to have been asked, really happy to help in some small way.
The response to the compilation call out has been nothing short of incredible with so many artists i admire sending exclusive tracks to help support Boundaries & the Crowdfunding campaign. It truly feels like a community on the same wavelength coming together. Unreleased Arnold Dreyblatt anyone!?!

Any excuse to post pics of me in 1982 (my pal Dougie on the left, me on the right).

An all-time favourite 12". Bedsitter too. RIP Dave, really sad news.
Once you hear the extended version of Torch with the wide-eyed conversation between Cindy Ecstasy and Marc and the extended trumpet section by John Gatchell it's hard to imagine going back to the edited version.

Ok, 8 things that might nearly almost possibly explain my music tastes:
* shortwave radio
* Sun Ra vinyl
* white note monophonic synth
* Spem In Alium
* flanger pedals
* Jamaica Heinekens in Brooklyn
* birdsong
* Sally Go 'Round The Roses

OK, this may be the first thing I've released this year, recorded last week, feeling fresh for Friday. 7 songs, 41 minutes, pay-whatever download and small run cottage industry CDR. x

Seriously the most unacknowledged and influential band of the 1980s. "Pay No More Than 49p" opened so many young minds. Shaved Women is a fucking PARTY BANGER too.
You can't REALLY strip 'everything' else away from this band as they're bigger than the music. But - if you were just left with the music this would still be a grade A, top tier, original and wild music making collective of people who put out some amazing records

As sceptical as I've become about Bandcamp Friday, I have a new thing to lay on you all tomorrow and let's just see how it goes.

Disappointed I'll miss my favourite ever NZ band Surface of the Earth in London in November, but I've just sorted out a lone UK date for Paul Toohey's solo K-Group thing in Todmorden on 20/11. More details soon. surfaceoftheearth.bandcamp.com/album/surfac...

Been massively enjoying reconnecting my ears to these 80s French drum machine bozos of late. Also made me dig out my old Metal Urbain and Dr Mix and the Remix records.

Is there a petition to get Stuart Maconie's so-called Freak Zone removed and replaced with something a bit freakier. Jeez.

Wow! Charming as (Shaking) Hell
Wow, I'm not sure how long this will remain online but how about live footage of Sonic Youth from 1982 at the Danceteria NYC in their earliest raw formation. An incredible piece of history here!

Spent a day hanging out with Virgin Prunes at London Lyceum in 1983. My pal Dougie ended up being part of their performance. They were sweethearts, we were starstruck 17yr olds.

Enjoying this bootleg comp. Includes my favourite I'm So Hollow tune plus an obscure jam I recorded in my bedroom nearly 40 years ago. Took me by surprise.
3LP's/2 hours of absolute faceless murk from the seemingly endless Light Sounds Dark vaults.
This one’s especially dank & tangy, traversing the sort of desolate borderlands you might find on records by Nurse With Wound, Two Daughters or Zoviet France...

Played music in real time, live in a room together with other people tonight for the first time in maybe 6 months. Felt immense, I've really missed it.

Been talking with a pal who's just discovered Wasted Youth. One of the great forgotten bands of the early 80s, maybe missing link between the Hawkwind and Bowie/Lou kids before them and the Spacemen 3 kids after them. Have loved this tune for 40+ years. youtube.com/watch?v=0gPi...
