What can I say? Retired engineer. Interests involve current preservation of a WW2 boat, alternative energy, classical and folk music, campervaning, opponent of so called smart motorways in the UK and the Assisted Dying bill also in the UK. Politics as well
Why still nothing on the BBC News app on the break in to damage Voyagers at RAF Brize Norton ? #BrizeNorton

85 years ago Operation Dynamo in WW2, the retreat from Dunkirk beaches took place. Around 1/3 million troops were plucked off the beaches. Often by now very old little ships. This nearly as old WW2 boat is going for restoration. whaleback.org #dunkirk #OperationDynamo

Now stripped of her post war superstructure this 20m long former WW2 air sea rescue, so called whaleback, is at anchor in the beautiful Salhouse Broad in the Norfolk Broads. Awaiting the next phase of her journey to full restoration. More here whaleback.org

We've had the pro #assisteddyingbill MP on his platform. Why are we not hearing from the opposition to it #r4today ? Could it be that there might be some BBC bias here? To be expected I suppose!

Yesterday this 20m long WW2 iconic whaleback all wooden boat, after a tremendous effort by a small volunteer team, was towed away from a sunken state for at least a decade. Towards full restoration. More on whaleback.org

Great to hear mention of the RAF on #r4today . Everyone rightly knows about the heroism of the bomber and fighter crews. Even the ground crews. But very little about those brave souls of the Air Sea Rescue service who picked up ditched airmen. More on FB "RAF Air Sea Rescue WW2 "

Why does that coffin keep reminding me of my efforts to make dovetail joints on my woodwork project at school in the 60s? #popefrancisfuneral

To anyone who is interested in a fine artwork of the RAF at SEA, there is an auction on for this 20"x30" artist signed print (minus the watermark and script!) on FB group "Whaleback for the World" Happy bidding!

I urge absolutely anyone who is fed up/bored/unhappy to listen to "The Secret World" on BBC Sounds. A decade old now but side splittingly funny from an era when politics was fun and the politicians were entertaining. Not like now. Produced by the late Bill Dare of the equally brilliant Dead Ringers

I would simply say respect has to be earned Trump and Vance. You two DON'T deserve it. You can't MAKE Zelensky or anyone else respect you. #nostatevisit

Can everyone post #nostatevisit

Ive been saying this for a long time. Trump is nothing more than a dodgy used car salesman!

Does anyone in their right mind in the UK still drive or buy Tesla cars? Owned by Elon Musk of course. #SlavaUkraini
February 22, 2025 at 9:12 AM
Did I just hear #trump say that in response to not inviting #Ukraine to peace talks, "Ukraine has had 3 years to make peace". For God's sake man, their peaceful sovereign country was INVADED by Putin!! #SlavaUkraini

Danny Kruger says those who backed the bill did so under false premise after change to safeguards announced Good morning. In parliament MPs and peers don’t simply vote yes or no on proposed legislation. They debate it at length, over weeks and months,…

@ollyglover.bsky.social Please vote down the Assisted Dying bill. You must see that it is falling apart at the seams now. It us wrong in every way, shape and form and should never have been bought before the House. I am a constituent of yours.

It looks like the Assisted Dying bill is coming apart at the edges now. Good thing to if you ask me. Under it our very good friend Betty, bed ridden after a stroke would have gone for it when at her lowest. Now thriving with lots of friends visiting her. #notoassisteddying

Zopiclone. A much prescribed sleeping pill, that according to the explanatory leaflet should on no account be used for more than 8 weeks. I believe many many have had them prescribed for years by GPs. With disastrous results if taken with other prescribed drugs. Instance Tom Kingston. #zopiclone

DEI programs and people with disabilities did not cause the midair collision in DC. Trump gutting the FAA did that.

But the DEI program Trump is trying to blame was started in 2019 — by Trump.

Elon Musk pushed out the FAA chief — who resigned 1 year into a 5 year term, last week.

Why? Because last year the FAA fined SpaceX $600,000 — for safety violations.

Now the FAA has no chief — and we just had the first commercial airline crash in 16 years.
