For breakfast: sourdough rye bread with ice lettuce, Brie, pomegranate and pepper spread, Portuguese sardines in tomato sauce, egg and honeydew melon, orange, grapes, coffee. 🍜

Sometimes when you’re stressed and need something soothing, an old fashioned murder mystery can save the day. I just watched Agatha Christie’s series: Seven Dials and will start The Thursday Murder Club.
I made a chicken/vegetables/fruit salad for dinner with pomegranate seeds. 🍜

I went grocery shopping with my son and we had a buffet lunch in Chinese Mei Lok restaurant. I chose breaded fish, deep fried pork, spicy beef in soy sauce and a side salad.
For dessert: dark brewed coffee in Espresso House and a bun filled with strawberry jam and whipped cream. 🍜

The snow in the backyard is full of various tracks made by hares, foxes, pheasants, crows, magpies, squirrels and the neighbour’s mischievous cat!

-7ºC today. A flock of yellowhammers appeared, I threw them various seeds under the feeders.

I chopped different root vegetables today, bagged them and froze for later use.
The third soup of the week: sausage and vegetable soup. Root vegetables: carrot, swede, celery, turnip, parsnip, they‘re all full of flavours and they’re great for warming soups and stews in winter. 🍜

Lazy day. Hubby and I watched an old classic: Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, in which Alan Rickman did a great job as the Sheriff of Nottingham. 🎬

I made pea soup today. 2 kg dried peas, soaked overnight, 800 g ham/smoked pork belly and the outcome: 12 bags (1/2 liter) of pea soup to freeze for later use. The soup is thick and only needs a little water when thawing and reheating.
We had some of the pea soup for dinner. 🍜

No sun in sight, so vitamins are important to keep us going through the long winter. When I was a child, doctors always recommended citrus fruits for children. 🍊🍋

This week will be full of soups. I bought dried peas and will soak them overnight and make pea soup. I’ll make a big batch with leftover ham and smoked pork and freeze for later use.
For dinner: I had some rainbow trout in the freezer, I thawed the fish and made a creamy soup. 🍜

It's a warm day, for the first time the snow is wet enough to make a snowball lantern. There's a candle inside that lights the lantern and makes it look beautiful in the dark.

Seasons change, persimmons are hard to find, but citrus fruits are at their best and the first Spanish strawberries have arrived. 🍓

I bought loimulohi, (open-fire trout) by Kala-Lappi. They have mouthwatering fish products.

The European Figure Skating Championships continue tonight in Sheffield, UK. ⛸️ ⛸️
An easy dinner (as always): I pan fried rainbow trout medallions and served them with lemon/dill/yogurt sauce and made potato gratin with smoked cheese and made vegetable salad with vinaigrette. 🍜
