Former Twitter refugee. Work for OCD-UK, Summer cyclist and season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest.
Elon Musk retweeting Tommy Ten names lies over the weekend, reinforces my belief I was right to walk away from Xesspit. How can any reputable organisation can remain on there is beyond me.

Why is it every time the Charity magazine is delivered it’s always raining 🤦‍♂️ I got them safely into the warmth and dry of the office.

This month is Pride month and OCD-UK are delighted to share this image and take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to our diversity charter launched in Sep 2021.

Creating an inclusive organisation is a fundamental part of living up to our purpose of supporting all those affected by OCD.

Who’s up for the London Marathon in 2026? We have secured a small number of places from 2026 onwards…. So now’s a great time to apply, whilst we still have places remaining… but probably not for long, so apply soon. We’re open to applications - www.ocduk.org/london-marat...

It is moments like this that really bring home how unutterably awful it was to allow events* to create a national mood in which Boris Johnson & Liz Truss could become Prime Minister. Imagine they were in the post right now…

I had 1000+ followers on that cesspit site, but would have been morally wrong to maintain presence on a platform where voices are no longer equal, where those that pay are amplified and place where hatred, homophobia & racism was tolerated without moderation.

So Google here in the UK folded to Trump’s lunacy.

Another point on this. My own experience shows that not all local ICB (i.e. Derby) take a proactive roll in seeking patient feedback on Talking Therapy service interactions. Therefore NHS England must make the PEQ mandatory and administratively from a national level to ensure reliable feedback data.
For the people of Derby & Derbyshire that need mental health support this is a huge blow. Vita have shown already they are not fit for purpose in delivering Talking Therapy services and Derby & Derbyshire ICB have given them a bigger contract to be the lead provider. 🤬

A contract worth more than £65m has been agreed, but concerns were raised about service impacts.

For those that are not aware, our very own NHS England gave Palantir a seven year contract. How safe is our data? nopalantir.org.uk

Our annual conference makes a return this November, and for the first time since the pandemic we are back with an in-person conference in Nottingham.

Full details will be confirmed in June when we will also open for booking.

We really hope to see you in Nottingham!

Look who’s back, and in orange. Not ground breaking, not the world’s leading recovery expert. Thankfully these days people are not naive enough to believe some random quote on social media. Books like Break Free from OCD, Overcoming OCD written by real experts in OCD are better use of our money.

Remember, calamitous Liz Truss was forced upon us by the equally calamitous Tory party. They are just as responsible as she was.

They all write us off at the start of the season, tipped us for relegation. We end 2024 second, and they continue to dismiss our chances of top four. To quote Cloughie… "I hope anybody's not stupid enough to write us off”!

Served his country, unlike the next incumbent of the White House.
Rest in peace to Submariner LT James Earl Carter Jr, USN (Ret). Carter, the only U.S. President to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, leaves a legacy of service. The USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23), a Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine, carries his name in honor of his dedication to our nation.

I did one festive thing this week 😂 But I cannot lie, I really didn’t get into Christmas this year. Worked Christmas Day until 7pm then pie & chips so I’m glad almost back to normality now.

Channel 4 are at it again, using mental health problems for entertainment. A new 6 part documentary format in which people with debilitating phobias attend a special clinic in Amsterdam over 48 hours, where they will undergo a new, cutting-edge psychological treatment and face their worst fears.

One for my 🚴🚴‍♀️ cycling friends that use @easyjet the price to take bikes gone up to £100 (well £50 per flight, so yeah £100).

This year marked twenty years of OCD-UK. So much achieved, but even more still to achieve. Thank you to everyone who’s played a part during the last twenty years.

It’s been almost twenty years since I first met Roz at a conference, and I still recall her words that day with an offer to help the charity, which at that time was still in its infancy. Those words have rung true; for 20 years Roz has been an active supporter of OCD-UK, generously sharing her time.
OCD-UK welcomes Professor Roz Shafran as a new Patron of our charity.

Professor Roz Shafran is a leading psychologist who has won multiple awards for her contributions to clinical research, which has included research on OCD.

“The surgery, tested in a ten-year clinical study, uses beams of ultrasound energy to destroy targeted areas of brain tissue.”

Well that sounds perfectly reasonable. 😕. Not to mention Daily Mail using a crappy stereotypical image to NOT depict OCD! 😠

No knife needed for brain surgery that could help 750,000 with OCD
Researchers in Korea found that the non-invasive procedure using high-powered ultrasound - during which patients remain awake - significantly reduced the symptoms of the condition.

Today sucks. Tomorrow will be better. I’m lucky it’s rare I get bad OCD consecutive days. So I know for me, tomorrow should be less sucky, OCD wise. For those battling horrific OCD and hours of O/C on a daily basis, you’ve got this. Your strength kept you going this far, it will keep you going 🤞💪.

Just seen the awfully sad news about James McMahon. I met him in 2013 at the Kerrang! Awards when I was feeling very uneasy and out of my comfort zone. He made me feel at ease straight away. Thoughts with Kat and family. RIP James.
