I am a figurative watercolorist, which means I make watercolor art featuring the human body. This is a deeply personal spiritual practice for me.

I love it when people can hold a large body of my work in their hands. I think my hardcover art book is the second best thing to owning original paintings. Plus, a book is a nice alternative for those who love nude art but are not ready to display it on their walls.

I’ve been rejected many times, often with no feedback. It happened again this week. But I remind myself that I make art for myself, not for anyone else; not to make money. For myself.

But I do want to share my work with those interested. I love talking with like minded people about figurative art.

Why do humans want to be ruled by robots? We have robots everywhere: bots doing social media enforcement, writing for us, creating “art” for us, watching our comings and goings, checking groceries, driving vehicles, etc.

Simplifying, summarizing, and deciding where clarity matters has been something I’ve been working on for years. This woman does an amazing job explaining this concept.

Worth a read.
What’s an American art fair without the collectors who buy from it, or an exhibition without international loans? What would an American art ecosystem beyond the market look like without the international artists, curators, and historians who people it?
How Trump Is Jeopardizing the US Art Market
If entering the country suddenly requires surrendering your digital life and private information, how long before artists and collectors simply choose not to come?

Every winter I dedicate time to painting. Here is a quick look at the work I was able to finish this season.

More, please.
A drawing I finished recently. I love Art Nouveau aesthetic so much, need to paint more of these! I'm also considering a side account for stuff like this (and maybe even spicier)

Graphite pencils on toned paper, A3. Full res scan on my Patreon, print on Inprnt, original in the store in bio.

The more I use Bluesky, the more I like it. I find that you get out of it what you put in.

I enjoyed reading this.
Today, five years ago I took my first nude self portrait. To honour the anniversary I wrote up the story on how I became a nude self portrait artist. And I put in on my new website.
Which is my way of announcing that I have a website now!
Go check it out.

Watching White Lotus for the first time, and I’m in love. It’s a slow burn, not so different from Hitchcock movies.

I don’t count my work as “realist” because I use a limited palette and paint a little more expressively with watercolor. At the same time, I practice “realistic” drafting to get proportions somewhat accurate, but I use that framework for expression. For me, full realism kills the joy and I want joy.

Old Jewish legends claim that Lilith was the first wife of Adam. Created from the same clay, she refused to become subservient to him and left him. Cursed to become a night demon by God, her story is seen as a demonization of female power and sexuality.
