Well #running peeps, I did it! It was NOT pretty, but I finished. As planned, I ran just a little beyond the 7.5 mile high since surgery. Hoped to make it to 9, but managed 8.5 until my form started to suffer. Ran/walked the rest 1:1 min ratio. Did no further hurt to my knee. Feel good about that.

What the heck? Literally between finishing yesterday and today’s Wordle, they changed the way it looked. And now it looks like this? Bold choice, Wordle.

From my run Wednesday morning. 33 mi mute recovery run. Part of the taper for the half on Saturday. A little bit faster than the 13:40 pace my watch set for me but 13:40 was uncomfortable for my knee. Couldn’t get a normal cadence.

Seconded.
As longtime observers of struggles to establish peace and justice in the US and around the world, The Nation is honored to nominate the city of Minneapolis and its people for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

If you are looking for some brightness and signs of hope, read the replies to this post. The Resistance is everywhere. People who love Bongo Cats are done with fascism.
New: Just how furious are Americans about ICE? Sewing influencers, bourbon vloggers and the mod of r/catbongos are all taking a political stand. "I refuse to wake up in five or 10 years and look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘You had a platform and did nothing,'" a golf YouTuber told me
Outrage over ICE has spilled into typically apolitical online spaces
Fury over Alex Pretti’s killing has flooded the internet’s most apolitical venues, reflecting a growing outrage over the Trump administration’s crackdown.

Been a bit since I posted but I have been #running and #workingout!
Consistent runs this week, all indoors because of the subzero temps. Long run replaced with 1:16 of cycling in prep for my half marathon next weekend. Plus a swim for added measure. Run the F3 on Saturday.

Amen to that.
Unsurprising but noteworthy just how wrong all the ppl were who said violence and property destruction were needed to win

@indevanston.bsky.social Is there action today in response to the shooting in MN?
January 24, 2026 at 7:02 PM
Took down my previous post on the shooting for clarity and better sourcing. This article does not have him dead yet. It still horrifying that this has happened at all. Hoping he lives.

Today’s run was at the local community center track due to extreme cold (-10 F! 🥶). Did sprints. Used the treadmill setting for pedometer because something in the building screws up the indoor track setting on my watch. I’ve found treadmill to be the most accurate. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone have better advice?

My sweet Bloo split her nail. We had to take her to the vet and get it cut down and wrapped. Antibiotics and pain medicine for five days. She has to wear a plastic booty over the bandage when she goes outside. Poor girl.

Mac and cheese with tuna and peas.

Delicious, surprisingly well-balanced, solidly working class.
If you could be a comfort food what would you be?

I think I’d be beef stew with a piece of cornbread.

I could not get myself out in the single digit temps to swim this morning.🥶

Couldn’t run before work yesterday, so I ran indoors right after. The cold makes it too dangerous to run outside. Today is a high of 7 Degrees F, low of 1. Feels like -9. Friday we are going to hit actual negative temps. Last night’s run was a long run. Building towards a half marathon.

Me when my Garmin suggested workout changes from 1:22 easy long run to the same darn interval run I just finished on the treadmill yesterday but it gave me a completion score of 15%. Despite the fact that I ran at. 10mph pace for my sprints. 1 0 M P H.
