I used to despise drawing guides that were like "1. draw a circle, 2. add a square, 3..." bc I couldn't visualize what I was making. I hated starting from 2D shapes.
Now teaching art I'm like "EVERYTHING IS SHAPES."

Lupine flowers and swallowtail butterflies!
The light purple spray paint is irking me. It's scratching my brain in a way I don't like. It's... just not my color.
But on real lupines, the purple and blue together are a delicious treat for my eyes and mind.

Fun fact: Datura is a poisonous hallucinogen, but in the way that you see god before your kidneys and stomach parachute out of your body.

a little over a month after planting, and we have blooms! Cosmo! Alyssum! A few weeks after seeding, and we have rye grass!! And just look a that little stand of sunflower babies!

More bridges need trolls.

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.

When learning to draw more "realistic" it's easiest to think in terms of "simpler" styles like comics.
And when learning to draw comics, it's really helpful to have a good understanding of drawing things realistically.
YOU NEED BOTH.

The best thing WFH during 2020 gave us was the acceptance of comfy professional clothing, like flowy outfits that are essentially matching pj sets. Layers of drapey fabric that look stylish but are pretty much sweatpants and a long shirt.

I had no idea. I deeply love this new knowledge, almost as much as I love the way it's on it's back, exactly like a dog or cat that's eaten way too much.
I don’t think people really understand when I say Giant Isopods can gorge themselves on a meal. Look at how much the stomach of this small male is extended from snacking on raw chicken in my trap.
