Heavy hitters on deck for tonight 💪🏿 "Heavy hitters" as in I barely feel like thinking but want to get some games in before bed. Also Trapper Keeper Game is criminally underated. I'll die on that hill.

The ultimate small box table hog. Castles of Burgundy the Card Game. One of my favorites and really scratches the itch of it's big brother.

Latest thrift find. I've always wanted to try some of the other TTR maps, but don't get it to the table enough to justify the purchase. But once we saw this we couldn't pass it up. #boardgames

One of the more unique games I own. Kickstarted a few years ago primarily for my true crime fan wife. The game itself is a solid 5/10 but they knocked the theming and packaging out of the park. From the box itself to the evidence bag to the "trophy" drivers licenses. #boardgames

Age of Civilization is an unbelievably tight worker placement game. 6 rounds and 30 minutes. Perfect for when I want something a little more substantial than Mint Works, but not a full on big box game experience. I'm horrible at it but love every minute.

I doubt I'll get any more play time this month, so I can safely put this one in the books. Thug Life was found thrifting and looked too absurd to pass up. It's surprisingly close to being decent. And, oh baby, the hype is real with Brass. I'm in love.

An obscure thrift store find: The Current Number of the Beast from 2012. A pretty simple dice manipulation game, but I'm a big fan of the art work. It gives me such a nostalgic mid 2000s feeling for something that I can't quite pinpoint...

A few years ago I created this Love Letter Serial Killer variant for my wife on Valentine's Day. After a playthrough with it tonight, I'd really like to revisit it and create a "second edition". #boardgames #loveletter #truecrime

Monthly #boardgames roundup. Super casual and breezy this month because time is an ever elusive thing. Agricola is my next 3d print insert project because that will 100% improve the setup/upkeep and get it to the table more often. #bgstats

If I may run with the boardgame subdivide:

"I play heavy euros, not random dice chucking Ameritrash."

"I play thematic American style games, not casual gateway games."

"I play light-medium welcoming games, no not like Monopoly."
Even when geekiness goes mainstream, there's always the geek-nerd divide.

"I'm a boardgame geek, but not a nerd like those roleplayers."

"I'm a #ttrpg geek, but not a nerd like those LARPers."

"I'm a LARP geek, but not a nerd like those furries."

I've inadvertently accumulated a SJGames collection. Ghosts Love Candy is the favorite. Car Wars definitely shows it's age. Munchkin is Munchkin.... And Scarf-N-Barf is a simple quick great game for playing with kids. Virtually no setup and a ridiculous yet hilarious "theme".

Last month's roudup. Sagrada and Kingdomino are two "new to us" big hits. Mixed Media is a great one I came across that scratches that same super fast, casual, push your luck itch Flip 7 does. I really wish I could've squeezed in another play or two of Rajas.

I recently finished my personal holy grail of board game inserts. A Feast for Odin. This has been at the top of my list, right behind Istanbul Big Box. Setup and teardown is a breeze now and it's genuinely shocking how well everything fits. Well worth the week of printing.

Came across this thrifting. "Inoka". Unfortunately, the best thing I can say about it is it's absolutely the most gorgeous rock, paper, scissors game I've ever come across. 🫤

I'll probably squeeze in a game of Dixit tonight, but close enough to call it for this month!

Better late than never. Another very mixed bag last month. Found the infamous Munchkin thrifting and after hearing how divisive it seems to be for years finally played it for the first time. The rule book is.... Interesting.. It was good ridiculous random fun though.

I'm a huge sports fan, that doesn't collect cards. I'm a huge board game fan, but not big on Monopoly. Somehow the whole trading card-ification of Monopoly with the Prizm edition fascinates me to no end.

Not much this month. Orléans dominated. Life in Reterra was a great surprise. Super quick to set up, breezy filler with some meat. Uno All Wild is so absurdly ridiculous, it almost comes around to being entertaining. Especially with some drinks.

A 3D printer has probably been the single best board game "quality of life" upgrade. A nice insert makes an absolute world of difference.

Last months roundup. Finally got Istanbul and it did not disappoint. Definitely a new favorite. Flip7 has probably 3x the plays that weren't tracked. It continues to be the reigning filler champion. Money! is a unique one I came across that I love but fell flat with everyone else.

Scored this at Goodwill for $4 bucks(my wife did, as always, she is the thrifting board game whisperer), and I think it takes the cake for most unnecessarily large box. I get why they do it, but sheesh.
