Writer and artist in the UK. I write about history seriously and create fiction and art for fun. I’m a James Baldwin/Anne Carson/bell hooks/John Berger girlie.

Finally done with the last-minute edits to my article for an international commercial publication. It was so nice to see the layout for the article. And because I'm the only one who cares about my writing career, I shall go and celebrate by myself.

I will not linger where I'm not wanted.

Leaving is liberating but it doesn’t make me feel like I've shed an unnecessary weight. If anything, there's a heaviness that wasn't here before—all this love that now has nowhere to go.

Such a beautiful book. It deserves all the prizes.
I am delighted and honoured to say that my second novel RAKESFALL has won the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction! vajra.me/2025/10/21/r...

In the throes of a flu. Wide awake at 4 A.M. I think I wrote something yesterday, maybe even drew some sketches. I can't remember. Nothing is in my head apart from deadlines. Deactivated my X account again. Realised yet again that the more time I spend on social media, the more solitary I feel.

I’ve only just started reading #FMLComix, but I already have a feeling it will be one of my all-time favourites.

So what
If you find yourself crying
at 2 in the morning?
There will still be sunrise
Another day to spend in the world
Knowing you did not drown
in the shadows.

Almost 1 A.M. here and still thinking about how life can break you in so many ways, the unfairness of it all.

grieve is the name i give to myself.
i carve it into the bed frame.
i am make-believe.
this is an archive.
it hurts to be a story.

I hate how I'm so careful with money most of the time, and then I wake up at 4.30 in the morning and end up buying a £50 bacne spray that's not even for myself.😩

White people deciding who is Black. White people deciding how brown people should identify. Non-Jews deciding who is Jewish.

Predatory capital cackling and cackling as inequality soars to extremes.

Nearly 6 decades on this planet, all this education, just to have my intelligence assaulted daily.

it just stops trying to find you.'

Thank you, Kae Tempest, for this beautiful, beautiful album.

As a person with OCD who has to engage with the world and evaluate its most pressing issues on a regular basis, I am really struggling to cope these days. Back to therapy when I go home, I guess.

Only brought one physical book with me on this trip. I'll probably make up for it by buying a whole load while I'm here. Anyway, I like how the book colours match my Moleskine cahier.
