Russell Vought, Trump's pick for OMB director, ought to be low-profile given the really exciting nature of budgets. But the Christian nationalist co-author of Project 2025 also believes the U.S. is at war with "woke militancy" and climate science.

We wrote about how Germany's AfD is using people's concern about the climate crisis pollution to further promote their anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Elon Musk faced widespread rebuke after endorsing Germany's extreme far-right party AfD but doubled down on Sunday. Here's prior BBC reporting on what AfD wants and who are their allies... www.bbc.com/news/world-e...
German far-right met to plan 'mass deportations'

Some bittersweet news: Today was my last day at HEATED. It's been a wonderful two years, but now the newsletter is moving in a new direction (more on that in the post).

I'll be freelancing as I look for a new place to continue climate reporting full time.

This story is the rabbit hole I went down to find out why AI is now being called the “savior” of the gas industry.

I found that tech giants are building gas plants and pipelines to power data centers. AI could burn through as much gas as the state of Florida by 2030.

AI is guzzling gas
Big Tech is paying for gas plants and pipelines to directly power data centers, threatening global climate goals.

Reminder: Tim Ryan is a paid fossil fuel mouthpiece
The next time you see this man on MSNBC giving Democrats advice in a football sweatshirt, remember: he’s paid $250,000 a year to hype up methane gas.

SCOOP: Tim Ryan, a former U.S. Congressman, was paid $250,000 last year by a fossil fuel lobbying group to promote methane gas as "clean energy"

Ryan promoted gas on MSNBC as recently as last week, with no disclosure of his position with the lobbying group
