That said, if you want a dungeon buddy, I'm often around Friday or Saturday evenings Pacific time and I might be able to bully friends into filling out the group as well, we sometimes do Fractals on those evenings.

Ah hmm, that should be a solo mission called "Victory or Death" now... That is the one that used to require the story mode of Arah, which I believe no longer exists. I'm almost 100% certain explorable modes of Arah aren't required for story.

Which dungeon is it asking you to do? I remember when one of them was required near the end of the base game story, but I thought it was replaced by a personal instance that doesn't require a group...

Unfortunately, dungeons... are kind of dead content. They never added more after release, and they're not popular. The popular low-man instanced endgame content is Fractals of the Mists, which I think are super fun, and they've totally supplanted dungeons as the main form of small group content.

So, everything is worth doing to some extent and you can't possibly do all of it, you just do whatever you want to enjoy and it's fine!
For example, full Tyria map completion is part of the very long term goal of generation 1 legendary weapons. Not at all useless!

My take is that since there's functionally no gear treadmill and everything syncs, almost everything is worth doing. Add the fact that world bosses (and even some instanced content) are all on timers, you get a scenario where playing technically optimally would require more than 24 hours a day...

Technically Discord gave this sort of data to a third party, who lost it, but that speaks volumes about their vetting process and security WRT third parties, which is just as bad.
Even if you could trust them with your data (you can't), they've proven they don't vet the folks they give the data to.

I think it comes down to timing, and peoples' opinions would have been different if it had been after the patch's dungeon and trial.
Like, I enjoyed it, but I needed to progress fast so I could do fun stuff with my friends and that chafed a bit when I was doing it on day one.
