There are multiple layers of problems here that need to be solved before "game plays itself" is the solution...

What is a sprite? A miserable little pile of pixels.

Sat down and did a high level list of accomplishments I made on my project over the last year and... yeah. I did a lot more than I thought I had. Good exercise, for sure.

Always feels good to block in the silhouette for an animation you've had rolling around in your head and nail a real physical feel for it.

Wake Up, Dead Man?

Nah, let him sleep. Not worth disturbing him.

"Creative search, inspiration or vision coordination"
This is an absolute dereliction of human creativity and instead investing in using stolen work harvested from the internet. None of this needs to be AI generated.

This is a pretty clear cut no, in my books. Using AI to make assets, generate code or documents, or parse data which will be used in decision making and budgeting all end up affecting the product. It's still replacing work that can and is being done, better, by humans.
As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

I've reached the point of exhaustion that I'm just blocking any and all AI stans and their useful idiots.

Well... that tracks.

If you've never done the work but you're sure that there are shortcuts that people should be taking, you're just wrong. Full stop.

If you want to use those those shortcuts because you don't like doing the work, you should find something else to do with your time.

Started concepting out the first enemy for my encounter system. Pushed some pixels around and am relatively pleased with the results so far.
Of course animating it will be something else entirely...

People reacting to Larian's CEO talking about AI is, much as I hate to say it, a filter. They don't want people who don't want to do it their way. He knows what he was saying in the interview. Mining your outrge was entirely the point.

Obviously no, the idea is ghoulish. Part of being alive is creating new connections and we have huge amounts of data that mental stagnation leads to decline.
