Congratulations on all our graduating students today at the University of Chester. Sadly, I have teaching, tutorials and a wider workload that doesn't allow me to attend the ceremony in person, but I'm there in spirit!

Compulsory team teaching on every module is perhaps the biggest ever threat to the quality of teaching in UK universities.

It causes chaos on the ground for timetabling, ruins course coherence and turns lecturers into permanent supply teachers. It is pedagogically incoherent… 1/

Archaeologists: we should not be uncritically accepting the authority and courts of self-styled 'benign dictators'.

Every week at 6pm Wednesday, I release a new Archaeodeath YouTube video. This week, the final review of Andor series 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ljO...

I'll be at TAG this year for the first time in... umm... 30 years? I still have my "EuroTAG" teeshirt from Southampton and one from Lampeter. Neither are in a fit state to wear but I'm loath to bin them.

The best conference session in the history of TAG will take place on Monday 15th December at the University of York called 'Time-Layered Narratives: Engaging Non-Specialists with Temporally Complex Sites'

I'm not paying to watch the film to evaluate it, but nothing he says makes sense to me. My TikTok video is more about the amateur underdog trope and the reality that archaeological institutions & individuals do act the way Coogan claims (not in this instance maybe)

fwiw, I'm just posting a TikTok about this latest development. But I won't share on here since I can't be arsed arguing with fellow archaeos.

I've done a TikTok for what it is worth but I don't feel anyone listens to me beyond that.

Sorry but can I just drown Steve out with my loud academic voice while he is writing columns in The Guardian?

Something specific and in general.

Nice to see British archaeology still being directed behind the scenes by a weird informal fraternity of the unemployable and unelectable and this has moved seamlessly to BlueSky. Not for me folks! I'm here to share my perspectives and occasionally call out the BS. Don't get too comfy here.

Why is TikTok obsessed with the idea I want a weighted vest and also why am I living in a time when the government actively hates universities and so I have no financial or emotional stability even though on paper my research career looks great?

Two equally mysterious mysteries.
