This strongly supports my theory that the reason so many Hollywood movies look like shit right now is in part caused by a misguided obsession with "realism" as a goal to strive towards rather than an aesthetic choice that doesn't work for every film.
Jon M. Chu talking about the color in WICKED just made me irrationally angry.
