Hello to all of my new followers! You should know that while I always try to be respectful, I am an Exmormon who sometimes will rant about the actions of the church and its members. I don’t like to criticize someone’s belief systems without their consent, so consider this your warning.
No. I will not be signing up for another new social media platform that replaces TikTok or Instagram. There was a time when we didn’t have platforms like this, and let me tell you, it was actually better back then. Of course the influencers want us to follow them. Ask yourself why and say no.

Life’s been pretty dreary these last few weeks in Minnesota, but at least we can say that Springsteen sees us, stands with us, and wrote us a song! So far my 2026 playlist consists of White Blank Page by Mumford and Sons and now Streets of Minneapolis. It’s a mood.

“There are a lot of people out there who want you to be dumb. Know that, women,” she said, her soft blond curls bouncing. “I want you to think. Because women, you are not just feelers.” 🤮

“Influencers” like this are a very, very good reason to let social media die.

40 years ago today I stood outside huddled and cold on a playground in Florida with my third grade class and watched the Challenger blow up live in the sky. It was a formative moment for me, and I remember it like it was yesterday. There are moments that change who we are. This is one of mine.

Glanced over at Exmo Reddit against my better judgement (I resolved not to and it’s been peaceful). Uh… one must ask… if truth is eternal, shouldn’t it hold up to scrutiny? What exactly are they afraid of then? 🤔 (And yes, this quote is from 1988. Even pre internet, they were shaking in their boots)

“I have a lot of appreciation for many of the things that it taught me growing up,” she says of the Mormon Church.

“But also, as an adult now, until I feel like I know for myself, I don’t believe anything anyone sells me anymore.”

Good for her.

There’s a reason why she’s always been one of my favorites.

This is small news, but I’m making the switch from Goodreads to Story Graph, for… reasons… so if you’re on Story Graph, let me know so I can follow you! (Also, if you follow me on Goodreads, I’m about to disappear) #booksky

“Minnesotans are insisting that their neighbors are their neighbors whether they were born in Minneapolis or Mogadishu. That is, arguably, a deeply Christian philosophy, one apparently loathed by some of the most powerful Christians in America.”

Oh my heart. Alex Pretti’s coworkers taking a moment of silence this morning. Live your life so that this is kind of send off you receive when you’re gone.

To be fair, we do all read serial killer books for pleasure. 😇 It’s called Costco, guys. We get the hand warmers and bottled water from Costco. Oh, and we pay for them ourselves, because neighbors help each other in MN with no expectations in return. Because, wait for it… It’s the right thing to do.

Let’s show our love and support for Alex’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Compare and contrast. What do you see? What do you notice? Who did it better? (Yes. There’s irrefutably a correct answer) 😠
January 25, 2026 at 9:31 PM
Why yes, I did glare at every single large Bronco type car that I saw just now when we ventured to Taco Bell for game food, just in case they were you know what. And yes, I am now safely and warmly ensconced back at home unironically cheering for the Broncos. I contain multitudes.

And remember how those same guys are still members of the Mormon church in good standing? (Sorry. Couldn’t resist. The hypocrisy will never cease to infuriate me)
Remember the Bundy insanity during the Obama years? Armed guys occupied a federal office and one of their buddies took position with a sniper rifle aimed at federal agents?

Exactly how many of those guys were shot and killed?

And if it isn’t, I hope you have a moment of serious introspection about whether or not you’re attending and paying money to support a church whose teachings actually align with what you know in your heart to be right…
Good morning.

If you attend church this morning, I hope it’s one that addresses the inhumanity of recent executions by ICE.

Bear witness. A sworn affidavit.
You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

The best. There’s a reason we chose this state to call our forever home.
Renee Good’s last words were, “I’m not mad.”

Alex Pretti’s last act was trying to help a woman ICE agents had shoved.

Damn, Minnesota. You sure do make good people.

Had to talk to crazy MIL this afternoon, who very pointedly only talked about the weather and was either completely oblivious to what has transpired here in Minnesota today or was absolutely unwilling to entertain a conversation about it and I was very very close to losing it. Maybe I should have.

This. People internationally keep asking how they can help. Continue your boycotts and expand them. The only language they listen to or care about is money. Boycott all American events, companies, and products. We are trying to do the same here, especially with capitulating big tech and business.
If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.
