Alt Text Challenge for Disability Justice!

I challenge you to:

1) Subscribe to @baatl.mastod.one to see how much of bsky is inaccessible.

2) Ask someone you follow who doesn’t use alt text to start doing so.

3) Ensure you can’t forget alt text: bsky settings > accessibility > require alt text.

Having it on all necessary images ensure that all users, regardless of visual ability, can access the content on your site. 2) Context and Information Using alt text ensures that no context or necessary information is lost for those using screen readers, or if an image cannot loaded for any reason. 3) Search Results Search engines use alt text when scanning pages to deliver better results for those looking for information on your site. “How To Write Alt Text” infographic featuring a photo of a capybara. Lots of people joining Bluesky again! Welcome! Whether you just joined, or you created an account decades ago and are gonna start posting now, here are some tips to enhance the experience. Share widely for all newcomers 🦋
Tips for moving from Xitter to Bluesky Before you start following people, fill out your profile! Bio, PFP, banner, and post at least 5 to 10 things. Just reuse your top 10 banger tweets—recycling is encouraged! This way, when people see you followed them and they check your profile, they’ll know what you are about and might follow back. Turn off NSFW filters in Moderation > Content Filtering Find your friends using a tool like skeet.labnotes.org or Sky Follower Bridge. Not perfect, but they’ll find the majority of the people you were following. Turn on “show posts from my feeds” in Settings > Home Feed Preferences. This will add random posts from them to your main feed, but tweaked to your liking, no ads and BS. I recommend the Catch Up feed (kinda like a “best of”). Tweak Reply Filters to something that works for you, also at Settings > Home Feed Preferences. This shows replies from people you follow to anyone else on your main feed... (ALT text too long, continues in comments)

With all of us coming here to Bluesky, we are all essentially hitting a big reset button.

Twitter promoted a lot of toxic unhealthy traits in the pursuit for clout thanks to its awful algorithm.

Here, those toxic fucks don't have an algorithm to push their bullshit. This is a huge chance for us.
