I wrote a scholarly essay on Skelly, the Home Depot skeleton:

"For the low, low price of $299.00 USD / $398.00 CAD, the 12-foot skeleton will give your home a gothic aesthetic on the scale of an eighteenth-century folly."

Weird that @theguardian.com is calling their liveblog "US politics" as if this isn't also Canadian and Mexican politics. And as if the US president isn't posing a threat to Canadian sovereignty and our very statehood.

Bizarre to me that mainstream news orgs are softening and normalizing the idea of the US "annexing" Canada. Consider this definition from an unrelated story in The Economist: "This usually follows military occupation."

So, the correct term is "invade" not "annex".

I know times are tough, but I have to say it: it is way too early to put up your Christmas tree. I've been out raking leaves this morning. The neighbours mowed their lawn. My roses have buds. I'm in SE Ontario, Canada. We haven't had even a hint of snow here. It's still fall. #FlowerReport 🍂
