On March 20, President Trump signed an executive order directing the closure of the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Prior to this order, the U.S. Department of Education announced mass layoffs, firing approximately 1,300 staff members.

I always believed in the idea of being the change I wished to see in the world. I assumed we were all naturally moving toward a more just and equitable future. But the truth is, change doesn’t just happen. We must make it happen.
