Tennessee warb has been done for a couple months. I like the yellow-green of the body with the pale lavender colored flowers.

The photo that I referenced the pose from is added. I had a couple other photos that I took of the same warb to help with the areas covered by stems in the reference.

Kneesvember 2025 Day 1
Birds are flying toward a castle with several red-roofed towers built at the top of an enormous oak tree. The sky is blue and there are wispy clouds. The tree is full of orange leaves and there are red and yellow trees in the distance. The image is bordered by a red, yellow, and blue, uh... border, with little stars and patterns. On the Queen's seventh birthday, brids from across the warbler realm were flocking to Oakcliffe Castle to take part in the festivities. (The first letter is illustrated in its own cute little box, technically termed an historiated initial, like in medieval manuscripts)

A Tennessee warbler and Short’s aster update. I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed flocks of warbies the past few days. Got some good reference photos of a beautiful black-throated green warbler while he was bopping around the leaves for snacks.

Back to our regularly scheduled program. This is a sketch of a Tennessee warbler on Short’s aster. Referenced from a photo that I took a few days ago while watching for migration waves. He’s on 9x12” mixed media paper, so a lot bigger than the previous paper that I’ve used. He will be painted soon!

Text Statement in image: Because of recent overwhelming issues lately, and the rate at which I repeat this statement, I needed to post this and my position regarding genAI use in imagery. -- No generated AI tools used in any artwork. Ever. With the increasing use of Gen AI images, I feel it is essential to prominently post and make clear that I have never used Gen AI tools or AI assistance features at any point in the process of creating any of my artworks. I spent nearly 3 decades studying and developing a hyper realistic style, which Gen AI can now mimic nearly perfectly. ​ Going forward, I pledge to never use Gen AI tools in future works. I do not believe AI of any kind has a place in my work. Part of the reason I love art is the process of creation, the joy and discovery that come from learning, doing and sharing through the acts of creating art. Art will always be about the journey for me, not the destination. My work is a visual byproduct of my lived experience.
