When are we going to acknowledge that the BBC is under continual, sustained & coordinated attacks from right wing media, politicians and financiers. The longer we debate criticisms w/o acknowledging the facts, we are just dancing to the tune of the opponents of free speech and open media. #r4today

View from of taxpayer #bbc: you’ve apologised, you’ve removed the programme. That’s it. He wants compensation? Fucking bring it! See you in court. This case is so fucking flimsy. #r4today

Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

It takes an obscene amount of hubris to lecture the BBC when you have The Telegraph’s record on truth-telling.

Some of the paper’s errors this year are so bad they’re almost laughable 👇🏻

“At least they’re giving it me straight” is a totally bogus perspective when what they’re giving you is fascism. #r4today

All these ppl criticising the #bbc for lack of impartiality work for some of the most biased and conflicted news organisations around (Telegraph, GBNews). The gall of these ppl, you can’t make this stuff up. #r4today

Despite disagreeing w/ what Labour are doing, I do find all this pearl clutching about manifesto pledge chaos a tad bit rich. Is it really chaos? Does it really compare to the chaos of Truss, Johnson, Sunak. This pales in comparison. #r4today

I don’t know how Emma Barnett made it onto #r4today. She’s such an appalling interviewer.

#r4today journalism is so poor these days. They didn’t promise not to raise taxes, they promised not to raise taxes ON WORKING PEOPLE. Let’s she who gets hit with tax increases, but be clear that ‘not raising tax’ was not a campaign pledge.

Blimey Dimbleby, getting the violins 🎻 out for the poor king and his stress levels. Today’s news marks nothing other than panic at the thought of anyone looking closer at the public financing of the Royal Family. #r4today

Chris Philp is such ridiculous joke. Can’t call out blatant racism and tries to get around it with weasel words. It says it all about what he thinks #BBCLauraK

Not quite sure why the media is presenting the Caerphilly result as a disaster for Labour, rather than as a perfect execution of its electoral strategy.

That strategy for *months* now has been to tell everybody who might otherwise be inclined to vote for them to fuck off.

And off they have fucked.

The amount is meaningless — less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once the armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.

Excellent stuff from @davidallengreen.bsky.social. Seems like this should be obvious to our political leadership, esp given Starmer’s background. I don’t understand why they continuously undermine themselves and our institutions on culture wars issues.
