Started teaching a new Intro to Novel Writing class at @uoftscs.bsky.social. We explored what a strong opening paragraph might look like. One of my favourites is from Miriam Toews' A Complicated Kindness. It immediately draws readers in with its tone & narrative voice. #WritingFiction

Review of APPARITIONS. I wholeheartedly agree, especially with that last bit. A lot of people have slept on this book, dismissing it because it’s written by a Deaf author and features Deaf characters. I’ll keep promoting it until it gets the attention it deserves.
