#twsochat a9. Of course. Everything is on the table.

Q9. When talking about the writing process in discussions, do you also talk about how to overcome the creative struggles that you might be having as well. Not necessarily around writers block but idea generation or how to round out a character etc.? #TWSOchat

#twsochat A8. Once I participated in a writing group event that was recorded and broadcast. I asked to be excluded because that would be considered published. The facilitator thought me self aggrandizing. We never really patched it up.

#writingcommunity
Q8. Have you ever had an argument with another writer over something in the writing world and were you able to resolve it with each other or are things still a bit rocky? #TWSOchat

#TWSOchat A4.

Not a group, but it really helps to have writer friends for meetups and online conversations.

So much of writing is rejection -- so a lot of what we do is cheer each other on. (And we are all writing different kinds of things so it doesn't make sense to be competitive anyhow.)
Q4. Writing at times can seem competitve or it can seem like there are limited opportunities to some people. Do you have a group of writer friends or a crit group where you share call outs, residencies and other opportunities with your writer colleagues? #TWSOchat

#TWSOchat A5. A question that's nagging me right now - as a writer with an energy limiting disability who loves to have a gazillion projects on the go, how do I manage my time and energy the best, esp. when one project needs sustained attention?

#writingcommunity #invisibleillness #LongCovid
Q5. Are there writing questions that you sometimes have where you ask for advicie from your writer colleagues? If so, can you share an example of something where you thought that your group or friend might have some helpful advice. #TWSOchat

#TWSOchat A4. I think it's indispensable to be part of a group, and, actually, more than one. I am part of a critique group (thank you, @julieartz.bsky.social), a writing discussion group, a prompt writing group, and enjoy participating in online events such as #wipsnips here.

#writingcommunity.

The most helpful is when someone has an emotional reaction to something that I didn’t expect. I don’t want to hear possible solutions so much as to learn about readers’ responses.

#TWSOchat A2. Discussions with other writers help absolutely. E.g. a conversation with other writers this week helped me realize that the novel I'm currently revising is a braided novel.

Constructive criticism is indispensable. I am too close to my own work to see everything.

#writingcommunity
Q2. Do your discussions with other writers help at all, either in your crit sessions or for chats out in the community? Do you like constructive criticism in your work or do you find it difficult at times to deal with or use in your writing? #TWSOchat

q2 I usually approach these convos with specific needs that I express, so they are usually very helpful. Unrequited criticism can be hard to take but can often unlock good things

A1. Shout out to my weekly writing group, though we haven’t met for a while. We have great discussions. #TWSOchat.
Q1. Today’s #TWSOchat session is about Discussions With Other Writers in your literary practice. Do you find it easy to have discussions about writing with other writers either in the TWS program (where you have required to) or out in the community? Have you come across any challenges? #writers
