Gambling harm must be understood first as a health harm. Fantastic that this will be discussed today with @annieashton2705.bsky.social

Our client Annie Ashton calls for the Gambling Commission to publish the number and names of firms it has put into special measures, and the revenues surrendered:

The secrecy of special measures that allows operators, like Betfair, to avoid regulatory action is completely inadequate and allows for deaths to occur. I have now launched a judical review claim to challange the GC's decision not to investigate Betfair.

The Betting and Gaming Council simply chooses not to use recent official statistics because they show gambling harm to be more than 6 times higher than the old stat they use – one rule for them, another for everyone else?

In Leicester this week, a man's body was found in a tent in an Asda carpark. A man failed by the system who did not deserve to die. In other news, the necessary royal banquet looked fancy. 👌

Well this is embarrassing for @LCFC. Shocked that they lord this awful sponsor on their kit? Nope! They have profitted from dark money 💰 and have no qualms about taking it from the darkest areas of the gambling industry. The senior team have awful morals and are ruining the club.

Whatever the merits of the reforms to inheritance tax, the government could have avoided this row with farmers (over a policy that will raise £560m) by following the IPPR and SMF’s calls to raise online gambling duty (doubling it would have raised £900m). Why they didn’t do so raises some questions!
