The people on Threads are SO ANGRY with this take 😆
Not to ruin your day but in the book the Creature burns down the family in the forest's house when they reject him and he straight up murders William as a little boy and Elizabeth on her wedding day to Victor because Victor rejected him immediately when he was born.

My god, y'all.
I need a Frankenstein novel with gorgeous upmarket prose where women are the central characters and not men wrapped in fragile masculinity. How would that change the story?
I predict pretty much most of it. Bring it to me.

The veterinarian office who refused to treat my dog for an emergency which sent me scrambling to find an emergency animal hospital with a sick dog in the back of my car - they just sent my dog a birthday card. She died in the animal emergency hospital that same day they refused me. Three years ago.

Authors, here's a pro tip because this has come up several times recently: If you've been traditionally published, make sure you keep hold of your latest royalty statement so you have more accurate sales numbers (specifically # copies sold) for your books. Future publishers may ask for that info.

It's coming up on my favorite time of year at the bookstore: when customers want a gift for someone they know and expect us to do 100% of the intellectual and emotional labor of picking it out, while they stand there in a crowded, hectic store and tell us why each of our suggestions won't work.

I can't be here today but if you have a manuscript that reads like an upmarket high Fantasy novel with a Horror plot, I want to read it.

literally happened to me yesterday!! a query was withdrawn with a very angry message attached to the notification.

if waiting on agents to read your full and get back to you (while balancing clients, personal schedules, etc) is too difficult, the submission process is going to be excruciating.
Is it okay to nudge? Of course. But keep your emotions in check. If you're losing it after 3-6 months of not hearing from an agent, how are you going to handle 1+ years of no response from editors once you're on sub? I know it's hard, but be cool, calm, and collected. #querytip #writers #amquerying

Rewatching Downton Abbey & I hate early seasons Branson. Why take a job in England if you despise them so much? It completely negates his beliefs that he marries an aristocrat's daughter. Then he complains abt them being exactly who they are (to their faces) when he's the one who put himself there.

In a perfect example of ADHD object impermanence I hid my backpack under a sweater in my car while I went inside a store, went shopping, then home, got out of the car, took a shower, ate lunch, and then spent a good 5 minutes blinking, trying to remember where I'd last seen my backpack.
